MCC
v Harberton match cancelled - rain
MCC
selection game Sunday May 16th 25 overs Alphas won by 15 runs
Alphas 137 for 9 (Roger 28 bowled Jim, Bertus 27 n.o.)
A's 122 a.o. (Duncan 28 not out)
MCC
vs Dartington 30 overs
MCC
lent Dartington 4 players as they were short, scored 118 all out (Jacques
49 bowled Steve) in the 30 overs and would have thrashed Dartington if
Steve had'nt done a Euro 2004 preview to avoid a run out and scored 13
not out in the last few overs (Palmer 40 no rtd ; Porkess 40 rtd) but
who says we are bad losers ???
MCC
vs Swan Alfrick aka Alfridge (40 overs)
MCC 111 for 11 (33.3 overs) ok Swan Alfredo insisted on
a 12-man match.
Swan
AlfaRomeo 112 for 9 (34.4 overs) scraped a win despite being in terrible
trouble on 22-5 after 13 overs
Prize,
Collins & Harper for the Muddy Ducks
all got quacked by Duncan (8 overs 3 for 18)
Mike
W top-scored for the MCC with 19 in a tough game for the batsmen where
the bowlers on both sides pinned down with tight line and length (A Crood
10 wides & caught by Q with a brilliant left handed catch behind off
Klaus.) It should be noted that the same A Croad got Q flukily caught
by Turner for 12.
Fine
late Innings from No 8 Chris Git (15) & No 11 Nick (10) made a not
too embarassing total for the MCC of a Nelson.
The tourists struggled for runs and at 53 for 7 off 21 overs looked in
real trouble : but top scorer No 9 G Oliver with 23 (caught Ed, briliant
catch, Bowled Klaus) saw them towards safety with D Finbow not out on
17, just 1 or 6 overs to spare.
For the Swanny Elfs Pearson bowled 8 overs , 27 for 3 wickets. Captain
Sanders somehow came up with figures of 4 overs 2 maidens 3 runs for 3,
but no-one can explain how.
Man
of the Match: Nick Carter for the MCC with figures of 8 overs, 3 mdns
and just 6 runs for 2 wickets who kept the MCC in the match down to the
wire.
A great match even though we lost, next year we'll thrash the Alfred's....
MCC
vs PARTRIDGE GREEN CC (30 overs)
MCC
132-5 (Tim 42 rtd, Tom 30, Q 22)
PGCC 136-0 (Tourle 41 rtd, Clarke 41 rtd Hinton the Bard 33no)
PGCC won by 10 wickets
Faced
with a West Sussex 1st Div side, a depleted MCC started well with a record
opening partnership of 59 from Captain Tim & Q, despite the b***ard
Hilton pulverising Q's big toe in the 4th over. Mike and Tom kept the
innings moving, but the MCC were always struggling to make more than 4.5
runs an over, despite only losing 5 wickets.
The tourists sportingly reversed their batting order, but under no
pressure were able to dig in and score the runs safely without losing
a wicket with 3 overs to spare.
For
the MCC Mike bowled most sparingly, 12 runs from 5 overs. PGCC bowled
consistently with Hammond, Newman, Clark and that ******* Hinton picking
up a wicket each, with T.Dyer giving away 35 in his 5 overs.
A
good social game that could have been a lot more embarrassing for the
MCC !
MCC
vs ROYAL CASTLE HOTEL CC (30 overs)
Royal Castle Hotel CC 100 all out (Charl 16)
MCC 103-5 (Nick 25, Mike 26)
MCC
won by 5 wickets
The
Castle slogged 14 in the first 2 overs and looked to be heading for a
good score until over-eager running lost them 2 wickets to fine MCC fielding.
With top scorer Charl the Pastry Chef run out on the 3rd attempt, Arif
bowled by Nick, and Arif's bro caught by Bertus off Sean, they struggled
to amass a challenging total, tho Christophe made a fine 14 before being
caught by Ed off Chris Git.
Opening for the MCC, Sean held one end with 9 in patient singles,' No
11' Nick scored a flamboyant 25, playing on to Arif, and Mike an agricultural
26 before getting bowled by Arif's bro. Sam saw the MCC home in the 18th
over with 13no.
Support
from both sides was noisy and hilarious, and a damn good drink was had
by all...
