BRITAINS
500 BEST PUBS. Roger Protz
Keith Floyd is a hard,if not hard-drinking act to follow
but Denise and Quentin Thwaites, formerly award winning licensees
of the White Cross on the Thames at London have transferred
with aplomb to(this)water side inn.The pub is a haven for games
players,offering dominoes,chess, shovehapenny,cribbage,and
backgammon.....
The menu changes daily and makes use of local ingredients.Excellent
accommodation is available.

A fabulous situation beside the creek,a great ambiance
and good food are three reasons to visit The Maltsters. It also
has the plus of being hospitable to both dogs and children, for
whom there is a menu(the children, that is)which for once doesnt
assume under twelves to have palates of polystyrene.
THE
Which? PUB GUIDE 2006 Edited by Andrew Turvil
It is a lively place with plenty of character and a bright cheerful
décor throughout
.Standards are high in every department,
including the individually styled guest rooms, but perhaps above
all in drinks; regular Dartmoor IPA is backed up by top-notch
guest ales
..as well as a local cider.Wines also show up
well with around 15 by the glass
..something tempting for
all budgets. Food is in an uncomplicated modern vein and portions
are large.
